Our Why:
Ever read the back of beauty or wellness products and think, “I’m putting WHAT in/ on my body?!” So did alumna from UCLA Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, founder of MintBiology.
It seemed like every ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ wellness, beauty or health aid we picked off the shelf came filled with hormonal disruptors, epigenetic triggers, immunity suppressors, gut imbalancers, and ingredients repeatedly linked to cancer. Even the ‘all natural’ and ‘organic’ Big Beauty Pharma recently scooted into genetically modified ‘natural derivatives’ that they play off as ‘healthy’ products.
The Truth Is…
The more science uncovers, the more we realize what you put in and on your body matters.
It’s not just about how a product or ingredient makes you look or feel. It’s how it affects you on a cellular level. It’s how that ripple effect impacts your mental clarity, cognitive abilities, energy, digestion, nutrient absorption, immune system, nervous system, skin health, and SO much more!
How It Happened:
Healing from a major car-accident served as the spark for a husband-and-wife team with a fierce passion helping others heal themselves and unlock natural beauty; they used their years of expertise in bioscience to develop all-natural, effective, holistic solutions for pain relief, fitness, and beauty.
Backstory:
My father is of Chinese descent and was born and raised in south Vietnam. In addition to being a competitive bodybuilder and joining the South Vietnamese army during the Vietnam War, he studied and practiced ancient Chinese acupressure for over 40 years.
He was known for helping people relieve all kinds of pain issues that couldn't be treated by western medicine. He was well versed in ancient healing methods and used his hands to manipulate soft tissue and decompress trigger points. He taught my siblings and I about the various trigger points, the ailments they're responsible for, and demonstrated his therapeutic techniques.
Later in life, my husband experienced a nearly-fatal car accident that left him bedridden and in constant pain. In addition, I developed severe pain in my upper body, which was only recently diagnosed as scoliosis.
We were desperate for tools that could mimic the hands and healing techniques of my father and provide instant relief. Everything we found on the market was made of cheap, toxic materials, didn’t live up to its promises, and didn’t provide the relief or results we craved. So we set out to design our own.
We wanted a tool that:
- Wouldn’t break, pinch, scratch, or snag
- Is non-toxic
- Is easy to use
- Is effective
We combined our expertise in the biosciences to design and produce the solution. Once we created the KOA Massage Tool and it solved our pain and wellness challenges, we knew we had to share it with the world!
Our collaborative passion resulted in a line of science-based, all-natural, effective products that restore wellness, mobility, confidence, and beauty.
